If the Steelers earned the title of “most disappointing” in Week 1, the Browns might have come away as the biggest winner of the weekend.
Cleveland’s defense tormented Joe Burrow and the Bengals, holding Cincinnati to three points and quickly inspiring hope that this season will be much different than last season. Despite the Browns’ success, Deshaun Watson struggled in Week 1.
The Steelers fell on their face in a loss to the 49ers in Week 1, falling behind early and not showing enough offensive firepower to threaten San Francisco the rest of the way. After Kenny Pickett spent the summer building momentum, pressure is already starting to mount on the second-year quarterback to show he’s making progress.
Pickett won’t have WR Diontae Johnson at his disposal Monday, which makes what could be an uphill battle against an improved Cleveland defense even more challenging.
The Steelers still haven’t had a losing season under Mike Tomlin. If they drop to 0-2 with back-to-back home losses, murmurs about the streak will undoubtedly start to become a focus.
