Emanuel Navarrete is looking to become a three-division champion, while Liam Wilson is ready to eliminate any doubt about what kind of fighter he is. Both are ready to clash for the vacant WBO super-featherweight title on February 3.
The fight takes place inside Arizona’s Desert Diamond Arena.
Following a successful amateur career, Navarrete turned pro in 2012. After losing the sixth fight of his career, Navarrete has won 31 in a row. In 2018 Navarrete won the WBO junior-featherweight title against Isaac Dogboe. Defending that title five times, in 2020, Navarrete beat Ruben Villa for the WBO featherweight title. He defended that title three times, his last bout a knockout win over Eduardo Baez in August.
Navarrete was supposed to fight Oscar Valdez before the latter backed out. Regardless of who his opponent is, Navarrete is ready to put his name in the history books.

“For me and my team, being a three-division world champion will be the culmination of yet another goal in my career,” Navarrete said at the pre-fight press conference. “We know that it won’t be easy. But, by doing that, I’ll feel that I have done something good in my career, and I’ll be satisfied with what I have achieved in my 10 years as a professional boxer.”
Wilson turned pro in 2018. An Australian super-featherweight champion, Wilson lost to Joe Noynay in 2021 for the WBO Asia Pacific super-featherweight title. He rebounded by winning two in a row, his last bout a unanimous decision win over Matias Rueda in June for the WBO International super-featherweight title.
“This is a chance to fulfill my dream and become a world champion,” Wilson said. “I’ve done 17 years of hard work for this moment. I’ve put in a lot of hard work. I’ve fought whoever they’ve put in front of me. I’m ready for Friday night.”
